Activities
In February I went to Vila Nova de Milfontes in Portugal for one week and in March for two weeks to train intensively with the NL Team Canoe Sprint.
All this in preparation for the upcoming canoeing competitions, which as it looks now can take place again 😊
Due to the Coronavirus, I will continue to train as much as possible myself in the coming months: lots of strength exercises and often canoeing in Leiden or Eelderwolde.
The first competitions after the Coronavirus were held in Neerpelt. It took some getting used to, but I had a great time canoeing!
As long as there is no total lock down, I often train on the water here in our neighborhood.
And for the longer training sessions I will canoe on the other side of the lock, even on the lake (if the waves allow it).
At the last canoeing competitions of the year I won gold at all distances!
Both on the 125, 500, 1000 and 5000 meters in the K1.
For the last time as a junior, I participated in the 2019 Dutch Canoe Sprint Championships on the Bosbaan.
In the K1 I was third three times in the 200, 500 and 1000 meters. I also won some medals in the other classes K2 and K4.  😀
The canoe competitions took place in Essen from May 3 to 5, 2019. There I reached the final in the K1 1000 meters!
The Dutch Long Course Championship was held in Kampen. The weather was nice and I was really looking forward to it.
In the K1 I came in third at the National Long Course (3000 meters).
The national coach gave me a new training schedule at the beginning of 2019, which I have followed faithfully, regardless of weather or wind.
Before the start of the competition season, I also trained with the Focus Group several times at the Bosbaan in Amstelveen in the first months of 2019.
All this in preparation for the canoeing competitions.
For the second time I was allowed to go to Olympic Hopes with the Dutch selection, this year in Poznan, Poland.
I improved my personal record (PR) on the 200m K1 there! For the first time I managed this distance in under 50 seconds.
I also achieved a good result in the 1000m K1.
